UWBA Allocates $16,000 In First Quarter Grants

The United Way of the Bradford Area recently disbursed $16,000 to local organizations through the first quarter Community Innovations and Community Impact grants.

Receiving Community Impact funds were: Bradford Regional Little League – safety nets; Dickinson Center – participant celebrations; McKean County Special Olympics – aquatics program; Bradford YMCA – Kids Fest.

Funded from Community Innovations grants were: Bradford Area Public Library – science discovery program materials; McKean County Cooperative Extension – Donald J. Comes Natural Resources Learning Center; CARE for Children – speech and language evaluation and testing materials; Bradford Ecumenical Home, Inc. – “It’s Never 2 Late” cognitive program.

The UWBA recently altered the funding streams, adding the Community Impact model and revising the Community Innovations model. The next deadline for applications to be received is April 1, 2015. Both Impact and Innovations applications may be received by visiting United Way’s website at www.uwbanews.org, the United Way office, or by request at admin@uwbanews.org. Along with the application, it is being requested of applicants that a detailed budget of planned expenditures be included.

All applications are reviewed by a committee comprised of United Way Board members, with recommendations being presented to the full board for final approval. For more information regarding the application process, please contact the United Way.
