Support continues for the Smethport Campaign for United Way, as 35% of the $15,000 goal has been raised to date.
This is the fourth consecutive year that solicitation efforts have been managed by the United Way of the Bradford Area, and Executive Director Mandi Wilton Davis says she is pleased with the status of the campaign so far.
“The residents of Smethport and the surrounding communities have shown how generous they are over the past several years,” said Davis, “and we know they feel very strongly about impacting the lives of their family, friends and neighbors through the agencies funded from our annual appeal.”
This is the second year for the $15,000 goal; last year’s efforts raised just shy of $14,000.
“We were so close last year to meeting the goal,” Davis said, “we were confident in maintaining that amount, and pledge to work more diligently to incorporate new donors.”
With monies raised in 2014, 7 agencies located in or serving residents of the Smethport area received funding: CASA of McKean County; Children’s Advocacy Center of McKean County; Christian Community Services’ Food Pantry; Hamlin Memorial Library; McKean County 4-H; McKean County Cooperative Extension; and the Smethport Memorial Recreation Center.
